Final 2 historical enquiries added to the E2BN 'The Day After... Project' web site. All the lesson plans and story worksheets were also checked over and revamped.

Started developing a new structure for the 'ICT in the Foundation Stage' web site. A project initially funded by E2BN. The new structure was to cater for new Early Years Foundation Stage Principles being introduced by the Government.


February 2007:
Set up the Darfar Potholing Club web site to facilitate communication between the club members and other organisations like the National Trust. (Based on Joomla 1.0.12.)


January 2007:
Further development on the Strangersreunited web site.


December 2006:
Set up the Peak District SSSI Cave Conservation Monitoring Scheme web site to facilitate communication between Natural England (formerly English Nature) and Peak District cavers via the Derbyshire Caving Association. (Based on Mambo 4.5.3h.)

More historical enquiries added to the E2BN 'The Day After... Project' web site. A new, simpler video player was developed using Flash 8.


November 2006:
Developed a message tracking facility based on the Google Maps API and AJAX for Strangersreunited. Based on the Google Maps Joomla component, but heavily customised to the client's requirements. (Joomla 1.0.12.)


October 2006:
Various developments in PHP, MySQL and Javascript (including AJAX) this month for Kaweb Ltd. including amendments to the Tankfiller and Ladybird Insurance web sites.


September 2006:
Continued development of the BTE web site (see below) front and back end functionality.

Developed a simple CMS and admin system (in PERL) for the Dorset Lettings web site to simplify and speed up changes to the property listings that had to be carried out each week by staff at Kaweb Ltd.

Performed numerous design and functionality modifications to the Joomla web site of Media Easier, a London-based media and design company. Several bugs in Joomla and it's 3rd party modules and components were cured, the hosting page was linked to Paypal to enable online purchasing of a/c's and a booking request page was added to the Gigcalendar component.


August 2006:
Changed the 'Example project' and 'PC World News Flashticker' iframes on this page to AJAX-driven divs.

Developed the Budget Travel Express hotel booking administration system and front-end web site (in PHP and Code Igniter) for Dave Worth graphic design.


July 2006:
The latest example projects page has now had the (15) 2005 projects split off onto a separate page to cut down on loading time.

Talking glossary system added to the E2BN 'The Day After... Project' history web site using a Javascript-driven Sitepal Avatar.

Started creating a (Mambo-based) web site to eventually showcase all of our educational programs.

Started in December 2005, finished developing the Clarkson's Box application for Cambs. Education ICT Service, a visual database written in Flash interfacing with server-side scripts.


December 2005:
Continued converting the Hyperworld web site from ASP to Mambo for E2BN. Also more development work on the E2BN DiDA portal.


November 2005:
This month, among other projects, we developed the DiDA portal for E2BN. Another Mambo based site, this required dozens of Flash tutorials on various subjects and programs to be edited, uploaded and linked into the site.


October 2005:
Created the Educational Tools web site using Mambo for E2BN. This site contains demos of all the educational tools we've created for E2BN over the last 18 months or so.

Converted the Teaching & Learning section of the E2BN portal to a simple PHP / MySQL-driven CMS.

Created the Making the News Competition 2005 web site using Mambo for E2BN.


September 2005:
Started converting the Hyperworld web site from ASP to Mambo for E2BN.

Created the Nursery Project web site using Mambo for E2BN/Cambs. ICT Services.


August 2005:
Converted the E2Bn Weather Station web site from a low featured CMS written in ASP, to a modern PHP-driven site using Mambo 4.5.2. Several special ASP scripts were converted to PHP and the Mambo registration component was customised appropriately.


July 2005:
Started developing a WAP 1.1 version of this web site for mobile phone users.

Started developing the Scankypants web site for Stuss.com. Also a WAP 2 (XHTML 1.0 Mobile) version of the site for mobile device users.


June 2005:
Continued development of the Myths and Legends web site for E2BN.

Developed the new ICT in the Foundation Stage web site for E2BN / Cambs. ICT Service using the latest version (4.5.2) of the Mambo CMS.


May 2005:
Continued development of the new Radio E2BN web site. Set up and populated the Journal of Innovative Teaching Mambo-based web site for PRACSIS sprl. Also customised several of the Mambo components for the site.


April 2005:
Continued development of the new Radio E2BN web site. Did another set of modifications and enhancements to the E2BN Gallery.


March 2005:
Created special version of the Story Assistant for Becta, based on life aboard the HMS Victory. (See examples page.)

We've just finished developing a Flash Maths Assistant tool to aid people with division, multiplication and addition and subtraction. Intended for schools or similar environments, although anyone could use it.

We've also just finished redeveloping the Radio E2BN web site. This involved the use of Flash MX 2004 Pro, MySQL and PHP scripts to play audio and video resources. Mambo was used as the CMS for the site.


February 2005:
We've just finished developing a Flash Story Assistant tool to aid people in getting ideas for writing stories. Intended for schools or similar environments, although anyone could use it.

Project examples page now split into 3 sections, (2005, 2004 and 2003), to speed up its display on slower connections.

Developed a Movie Viewer to complement the interactive Movie Creator we developed for the E2BN Myths and Legends web site. (Written in Flash MX 2004 and using XML data files.)


January 2005:
More technical examples and details/screenshots of our two latest projects added to this site. Amended site pages so that they could be AAA Bobby Approved.

Did some investigation into using Ming from PHP to create Flash MX page content dynamically. A very useful technology if you need to do this. See the page of technical examples for more details.


December 2004:
This month we've been doing some ASP and Flash MX development work for Stuss.com and also setting up the Celebrating Language and Norfolk Languages web sites for E2BN. They use the multimedia Flash MX applications we developed for them to present interactive educational resources on foreign languages.

The Norfolk site required a number of video files to be converted from RealMedia format to Flash Video (FLV) format. It took us quite a while to find a program which would actually convert these files. We finally found that only Super DVD Creator, (a Windows program), could do the job.


November 2004:
Developed an interactive Movie Creator for the E2BN Myths and Legends web site. (Written in Flash MX 2004, Perl and using XML data files.) Again the design of the site was done by Stuss.com.



October 2004:
We've just finished redeveloping the Essential Resources web site for E2BN. (Written in PHP4 with a MySQL database.)

Redeveloped the Digital Media Assets Resource Library web site for E2BN, based on a heavily customised version of the open-source application 'Gallery'. (Written in PHP4 with a MySQL database.)

Before that we created the British Pathe Library web site for the same client. The design of the site was done by Stuss.com and the backend functionality written by us. (In PHP4 and MySQL.)


September 2004:
At the start of this month we developed a multimedia application for building and viewing projects using synchronised video, sound, images and text for E2BN. The project shows how Flash MX 2004 Professional, XML and PHP can be seamlessly integrated together into useful feature-rich applications.

Finally, we have performed a major revamp of the services pages on this site, updating pricing details and bringing the details of products, companies and services we use or recommend up to date for 2004/2005. We've also added the last few projects we've worked on to the examples page.


August 2004:
Focusplus Developments is now registered with PayPal.

The latest E2BN project is a multi-purpose glossary system again written in PHP/MySQL. There is also an admin system to enable them to maintain the glossary entries.

Before that was the Myths and Legends project, similar to the Local Heroes project, again using a PHP/MySQL CMS and the customised Zoomify Viewer and maps.


July 2004:
We have just finished developing the PHP/MySQL database application behind the new Officejobs.uk.com web site for Stuss.com. The functionality includes job search, candidate registration, job application and secure admin facilities.

Developed a network status display page and admin page for the same for E2BN using PHP and MySQL. Developed a series of web pages for a mobile technology workshop to be performed at the E2BN conference. The pages were for a 'treasure trail' excercise using XDA IIs as the display devices and involving mobile phone interaction with people back at base on a PC accessing the Internet.

Added details and screen shots of all the main projects worked on over the past 6 months to the examples page with links to all of the relevant web sites.

June 2004:
Phase 2 of the E2BN Gallery project now finished. Customised Zoomify viewer for the E2BN dynamic maps, (eg:- the Local Heroes project), further developed. Customised Zoomify annotation system for these now fully working. (The Zoomify applications are Flash MX applets.)

Developed a submission form and simple CMS for the local heroes section of the E2BN portal. This allows visitors to submit their own local heroes for approval.

Now working on further developing the UKS MMS web site for UK Surveillance Ltd.

May 2004:
Transferred all previous E2BN projects onto their new Red Hat server. Now working on phase 2 of the E2BN Gallery project.

April 2004:
More Flash MX work at Warwick University. Finished there at the end of the month. Now doing a booking form and admin system for E2BN in ASP driven by an Access database.

UKS MMSC server now processing incoming and outgoing SMS messages via a GPRS modem. Many other client facilities added to web site.

March 2004:
Finished phase 1 of developing the Gallery application for E2BN.

Finished developing most of the basic facilities for the UKS MMSC server. Now processing received MMS emails and sending SMS messages.

February 2004:
Finished the development and testing of a Powerpoint Presentation Viewer written in Flash MX 2004.

Developed another site for UK Surveillance Ltd in XHTML 1.0, CSS2, PHP4 and driven by a MySQL database along with some Perl scripts to process and store the information contained in received emails and MMS messages to monitor security cameras, etc.

Started developing a gallery application based on the open-source 'Gallery' for E2BN.

January 2004:
Developing a e-commerce system for the E2Bn regional broadband consortium based on osCommerce, but heavily customised for their different way of working. Developing dynamic map applications for E2Bn and Warwick University using Zoomify and specially developed Flash MX 2004 applications.
